| Nicolas Buckmelter is a fluent exponent of Irish
traditional music on the wooden flute. He learned some
of his earliest tunes from Ian Law of San Diego, California,
who learned much of his music from the late uilleann
piper David Page of Dublin. Nic's style of playing is strongly
influenced by Derry-born flute player Paddy O'Neill,
who spent many years in Los Angeles. Since picking up the
flute eleven years ago, Nic has played alongside some of
the most respected players of Irish traditional music,
and his flute recordings have appeared numerous times on
television and radio in the United States. He recently
recorded a track, with bandmates Jimmy Murphy and Joey
Abarta, for the upcoming compilation "Wooden Flute Obsession
Vol. 3." He hosts a regular session at Finn McCool's in
Santa Monica, California, and teaches flute and whistle
to students all over the southern part of the state. Email: nicolas@ciunas.net |
